Yes, there will be an update for R16. I have it in a testing phase right now. Really the only change will be the addition of the Bevel Deformer. The current version, v4.0, should work just fine in R16.

    • Artur Meisch on October 26, 2014 at 12:40 pm

      Hello Marc,
thank you for updating to R16.
I have a error-message in the console saying:
PyDeform_v4.0.pype: Cannot load plugin because the encryption has been updated. Please re-encrypt the Python Plugin.

      Maybe that helps
      Thank you again

    • Marc Pearson on October 27, 2014 at 5:04 pm

There was un updated version released for R15 that solves the issue you mention here. Maxon changed their encryption in R15, so the updated version of PyDeform has a *.pype and a *.pypv version. The .pype will work in R12-R14, while the *.pypv version will work in R15-R16. The console will still give the error about .pype in R15-R16 but will not keep the plugin from operating.

    what kind support here?

    • Marc Pearson on November 21, 2013 at 4:18 pm

Sorry Mario. I have been unavailable for the past week or so. PyDeform should work on Windows 8. If it isn’t then you can try a couple of things. First, try running C4D as an Administrator. Version 4 requires administrative rights because it is writing files. Alternatively, you can install the plugin in your preferences folder (hit ctrl+e inside of C4D to find that folder location), then install PyDeform inside the plugin folder. This method should remove the administrative requirement.

A release for R15 will be on the way shortly. Due to the changes to the core of C4D, there will be two versions of PyDeform. One version for R15, and one version for R12-R14.

This update will be free and made available as soon as possible.

    • Marc Pearson on March 19, 2013 at 5:41 pm

The supported versions for the plugin are R12, R13 and R14 because it is coded using the Python framework. Python was not implemented in C4D until R12.

All critical issues have been fixed and have been released.

Right now I am compiling a list of the “I wish it would do…”. Once I have enough upgrades that warrant a new version release then those will be implemented (i.e. tooltips, interface).

ALL critical issues such as crashes will be addressed immediately and released.

I don’t want to bombard the users, or Robert for that matter, with a new update every week.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Hi Love the Plugin – Never understood why it doesn’t do that out of the box – like Max does

The only thing that I suggest ( apart from the tooltip ) is a slight interface change as it does take up a lot of space.

    Many thanks

    • Marc Pearson on March 12, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Thanks! I am glad that you enjoy it!

I am currently compiling a list of ideas to make PyDeform more even better. The tooltip is definitely on the list for the next version. I am also looking into ways of improving the layout. I have several things in mind, but I certainly welcome input from users! I took a look at the picture…looks good :)

Just wanted to suggest you one thing, couldn’t you introduce tooltip with the name of the deformers, at least when hovering over the icon of the deformer with the mouse. There are many deformers in the window, people that don’t master C4D like the back of one’s hand could get confused ;)

    • Marc Pearson on March 9, 2012 at 5:00 pm

I will definitely see if that is something that can be implemented in a future release.

I just purchased the product today and, like for the others language (bug reported in the other comments), the “update” button doesn’t work in my FRENCH version… And I have bought it mostly because in your demo, it was be noticed that you could update the dimensions of the modifiers on the fly when you changed the parent object’s ones… So I really need a fix for this since i’ve paid..

I’ve changed Language from German to English and now the Orientation Update works.
But C4D is still crashing, when i select Object and Deformer an click Update!!

Is it possible to make the Plugin work with the german Version of C4D?

Had the same Problem with Nitromans NitroBlast… he updated the Plugin within one hour ;)

    • Marc Pearson on March 6, 2012 at 9:53 pm

I am trying to replicate the issue, but I can’t get it to crash. I am trying selecting both the object and its deformer then clicking update, but no crash. I will keep testing and see if I can replicate your issue and resolve it.

As for the German translation, I will look into it. Unfortunately I’m not fluent in German :( I will work on that as well.

I appreciate the feedback and am open to making PyDeform as accessible as possible.

    • Marc Pearson on March 6, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Still working on your crash issue. The way the plugin is designed to work, you select only the deformer then click the Update button. The reason for the crash, I think, is that the plugin looks to the parent object for “hints” on how to update the deformer, but when the parent and child are selected C4D might get confused as to what object to reference. I will continue to look into the issue and see if we can get it resolved for you, but again the plugin in designed to “update” the deformer and not the object.

      Thanks again!

    • Axel Hamacher on March 7, 2012 at 11:05 am

      thanks for your reply!
I understand the way the plugin is designed.
But: A big scene, lots of work,
not saved for half an hour… you know what I mean! ;-)

Just a warning message would be nice: “This object can’t be updated”

In german: “Dieses Objekt kann nicht aktualisiert werden!”

      Thx again!!

    • Marc Pearson on March 8, 2012 at 1:00 am

I haven’t forgotten about your crash issue. I am close to having a fix, but would like to test it more before jumping to conclusions :)

Again, sorry that you lost some work! I have had that happen before and it isn’t fun :(

      Will keep you posted,

Hello there, i have purchased this amazing plugin (PyDeform v.2) and followed your instructions to a point. After running my C4D R12, the plugin does not appear in the Plugins dropdown menu.

    Please help.

    Kind Regards

In R12 the plugin can be found in the “Python>Plugins>PyDeform” main menu.

Let me know if that helps!

The Orientation Update does not work and if I accidently select Object and Deformer and then click Update, C4D crashes!

Working with R13 Studio, Win 7, 64 bit.

I tried both, 64 and 32 bit version of C4D.

    Any suggestions?
