Can i use the plain effector with this? I would like to effect certain parts of the pattern.

Disregard the editable geometry question, render instances was turned on, which contributed to the geometry conversion problem.

Is there a better way to convert geometry from the pattern maker to editable objects? Any attempts result in no geometry or only a portion of original pattern.

Could you show an example of how to take the pattern and flow it along a surface using Mograph? Not sure if it would have to be dependent on typology. I am thinking a deformer, is this the best way? The plugin would allow independent typology design from surface host object typology.

    Thank you,

Can the pattern maker be used on spheres or hilly landscapes? Or can i only use it on a flat plane?

How easy is it to use other mograph effectors with you pattern maker or will it not work with the xpresso set up you have?

    • Mehmet Şensoy on March 24, 2014 at 2:28 pm

      Hello Gary,
Yes, you can add more mograph effectors. For example; say you want to add formula effector, expand Pattern Maker Object Group > Vertical > Horizontal > Lowest > create one additional cloner under “Lowest” cloner. Insert your effector and put it under all objects. Select your previously created cloner and add your effector to it.

By the way I forgot to say that set cloner’s count “1″ and Y position to zero.

Is it possible to email me a file, when I try your technique the extra cloner breaks up the pattern and has no effect adding an effector.

In this case I guess you should ask admin first for security reasons. (To be sure that you have purchased product.Of course I would send you example file.)

Looks quite interesting, have you thought of adding a floor board plank preset and/or a parquet preset:

i just bought your pattern maker and its great :-)
i am trying to apply a plain effector with a sphere falloff jus to a portion of the grid, but it just works if the effector hits the edge of the grid :-(. How can i make the effector to just affect the part of the grid that i wan to affect? hope you can help me.

Hmm… no reply after a month?

      Hello Bill,
Have you tried it with cell-render? It’s working like that. On the other hand you are right, strokes in sketch and toon render seem only on one row. Trying to fix that.

    • Bill Busse on February 26, 2014 at 9:20 am

Thanks for your reply Mehmet. Hope you can fix this :) I found a workaround in the meantime which is to un-check render instances in the cloner.

Hi, I just purchased pattern maker and love the preset! I’m having some difficulty however using sketch and toon with it. When sketch and toon is applied, only one row renders with sketch and toon outlines and the rest render normally (without sketch and toon). Any ideas how I can get this to work? Cheers!
