Hi there, the model is really cool and I am enjoying mapping my own ideas to it.

DO you think there is any chance you could model a load of different hair styles and sell them as a package someday?

    My model have too faces:

    Can you help me please?

    • YiannZ on April 25, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Don’t worry about that…When you render it, only the front face will appear. The back face only appears in the editor…

So, am I correct, that if I buy the Legoman4D, I will also recieve all of the accessories (as shown in the accessories demo video) and the Lego4D (as shown in the LEgo4D demo video)? Or do I have to buy the three parts separately?

    • YiannZ on March 24, 2014 at 9:32 am

      Hi Ethan,
You’ll have to buy them separately..
With LegoMAN_4D, you’ll get, of course, the LegoMAN itself, as shown in the Demo Video, and the Extras, as mentioned above.

    Update !

Ok … works perfectly in fact.
I forgot to drag the hair-hat in the accesories Null just after importing.
Sorry for bothering for nothing !
By the way I hav another question ?
Is it possible to have multiple loego man in a project ?
It seems I have to create them in a single project then import each in the Main one. Otherwise the expresso seems to be confuse and you can only have clones.
(but maybe I done something wrong too. i you can help me on this point … Thnx !!)

      Hey David,
Sorry for that late reply…There’s definitely something wrong with my email notifications…
Anyway, to answer your question, of course you can have multiple LegoMAN figures in your scene!
If you’re on R14 or R15 you should drag a new LegoMAN 4D from your Content Browser to your scene or merge a new one from File>Merge Objects.
In previous versions you could also duplicate LegoMAN 4D, using Ctrl+C Ctrl+V or with Ctrl+drag in the Object Manager.
If you tried this way in R14 or R15, then it creates a duplicate of the model but not of the materials in a way that the duplicated LegoMAN would share the same materials, thus the same colors…
Hope that helps…If there are still any issues let me know.

    there’s a kind of bug in R15 I think.
When you want to import the material (like a hat) :
1st : you can’t select it by the menu “select element”.
2nd : when you import the item in the scene then put the item under the null “accessories” and drag it into the “hat” selction, the item is doubled. Like a instance. I can move it isolately, but can’t delete it. I’m stuck with two hat.
(for torso sticker there are no problem by the way…)
Is something can be done ? Cause the tool is reaaaaaaly great !
    Thx !

Very cool rigged model. I think for V2 I would make one with deformation controls for hips, elbows, knees and possible feet for more of that lego animation style. And perhaps more hairstyles. Maybe even female.

    • YiannZ on February 13, 2014 at 9:42 pm

      Hey Mike,
all those ideas are great, and there’ve been in my mind for so long…So, glad we share the same ambitions for V2 ;)
Hopefully, I’ll find some time in the near future, to grasp my hands on it again…

Is the LegoMan 4D V.1 and Acessories supported by cinema 4D R14 or 15?

    • YiannZ on February 13, 2014 at 9:35 pm

sorry for the really late reply…
      Yes,LegoMAN 4D works fine in R14 and R15!
Only feature that doesn’t work (actually not a feature) is when you want to have more than one LegoMEN in your scene. Ctrl+C,Ctrl+V or ctrl+drag won’t work as before, when the materials were also duplicated and thus you could have different colors in your new copy…
So, the way to do it in these versions is to re-drag a LegoMAN 4D file from your content browser in your scene, or merge it again…
Hope that make sense to you…

I purchases both legoman 4d and the accessories pack earlier in the. They’re fantastic!
Unfortunately my imac failed big time yesterday the result of which was a format. I’ve lost EVERTHING as I didnt have a back-up. Is there any chance i can obtain replacements? I know they’re cheap, but since purchasing them, I’ve lost my job & I’m unemployed.
    Thanking you in advance,

Hi I had fixed the prior issue mentioned but am wondering if you’ll be adding support for the stickers on the back and front of the torso at the same time and arms, sides of legs? I use this for rendering my custom figures.

I do not see a null object and it wont let me add it to a preset or even use any of the rig. (It’s not even on the screen anywhere)

    • YiannZ on June 9, 2013 at 6:34 pm

      Hey Garett,
If I understood right, what you’ re saying is, that after your purchase, you downloaded the file, and then you opened the .c4d file called “LegoMAN 4D V1.c4d” and Cinema 4D actually opened an empty scene? I mean when you first opened that file, you didn’t see any “LegoMAN 4D V1′ null object in the object manager, neither on the scene? Well, if that’s the case, then it’s really weird and I don’t really know what’s wrong (never had that before)…maybe the downloaded file was corrupted, or got corrupted, or you might accidentally edited and saved the file (just some arbitrary guesses…). Anyway, in order to help, you might need to send me the file to see what’s wrong…Contact me through my profile page and i’ ll get back to you…

Nice rig but would be even greater if it were rigged with deformers on legs, arms, and chest so it could bend and twist and was more like the lego animations.

    • YiannZ on November 21, 2012 at 6:46 pm

This was the first thing I added in the “To Do” list for the V.2 !
      Thanks for the feedback!

Curious – any idea how the lego man is (or is not) trademarked by the Lego company?

I think they are sorta loose about it, as long as you don’t use their logo….but not sure if they trademark the shapes.

    • YiannZ on March 8, 2012 at 9:59 pm

I remember searching for these matters when I started developing these presets, and all I found in their policies, were rules/restrictions about the name and the logo…In my understanding they care most in preventing misimpressions that third-party stuff are developed or supported by them…hope I got it right…As for legoman..well Lego company refers to these little plastic guys as Minifigures…Of course you can check their policies yourself, on their official site ;)
