Hello! Thanks so much for this, it’s awesome! I’ve been playing around for days in the hierarchy. Whats the best way to make a custom shape, for example you have made a diamond shape with your Chinese knot. Can you please help me out with this?

    Very good tool!
How can I easy convert the grid in one edible object?

If I unhide children and select ‘Current State to Object’ it doesn’t work.

the grid maker is or is not a plugin? I am using windows C4D R13, and after copying in the plugin folder…nothing appears inside after the software is launched…can you help?

    • Liang on September 26, 2012 at 10:49 am

No, It’s a preset file, just open the c4d scene in the rar file, and save it in your content browser, you can reuse it at any time

    Hi there

I am trying to use your great plugin to form a shoe, I was wondering if there was anyway to offset the individual animation of the individual strands? thanks

    • Liang on August 22, 2012 at 10:32 am

Hi, the strands are cloned, you may need to unhide childen, figure out the hierarchy, then try mograph selection.

    Hello there !

I find this “Grid Maker” so nice and i thank you for it !
I can`t figure though how to get any closer to the masterpiece u got there (the red one). Could you guide me a bit ? Only if you can/want/have time, if not it`s ok i understand.

    Thank you again,
    Vali

I use Grid Maker to make the rhomb body, and boole it for the characters.
The other lines and knots just created with traditional way: draw splines and sweep them.
When rendering I use displacement to make those tiny lines.
      Hope it can help you!

When I add FFD to grid, (making it a child of the grid) it changes it appearance before I even apply new FFD points.
    Can you assist?

    Thank you

    • Liang on May 30, 2012 at 5:51 pm

First, modify the FFD as close as the grid. Then, put FFD and grid under one group(Alt+D) should be better, if you have other deformers, FFD should at top of others.
      Hope it can help you:)

    • Robert on May 30, 2012 at 6:47 pm

Thanks for getting back to me. It still is not working, as the weave flattens out once the FFD is applied. Will try to attach a screenshot so you can see what I have done.If I can not, do you have an email I can send the pic to?

    Hello, Liang,

first many thanks for Grid Maker!

I have a question: if I put on the material with a line structure (as for example in your Japanese motive), the structure properly does not lie with the form. How do you make this?

    • Liang on May 29, 2012 at 4:04 am

      Actually it’s called chinese knot…haha
Maybe I’m not very clear with your meaning. If you ask the small line structures on chinese knot, the problem is the texture projection, you need to uncheck HIDE CHILDREN in Grid Maker’s attributes, then find the textrue tag, the default projection is Spherical, change to UVW mapping.
BTW, I use displacement to make those small lines.
      Good Luck to you

    • Alexander Gelin on May 31, 2012 at 3:20 pm

      Thank you very much!

with HIDE CHILDREN I can only activate or deactivate. But I nowhere find the textrue tag :(

The grid makes is fantastic, so thanks tons…. One quick question is that if I wanted to attach a particle to the surface so it looked like water drops or food etc… how would I do that… I tried clone a sphere and then using object to try attach to the surface… but did not have much luck… so any ideas?

    Best regards, Justin

    • Liang on May 3, 2012 at 1:46 pm

      Hi, justin

Sorry, I come back late. The grid maker has a very complex hierarchy, so if you just drag the grid maker null object it doesn’t work. To make that, you need uncheck the hide child parameter in the display group of grid maker, then you will see the hierarchy, drag the formula spline to your cloner, and your cloner must at the same hierarchy with formula. There are 4 formula splines. so you have to do it one by one.
I should say there still have many limitations of this preset, maybe I will try to simplify the compliex hierarchy to achieve more effects.

      good luck,
      Liang
